Parents – Please be courteous and stay clear from goals and sidelines

Posted by Web Admin On September - 20 - 2019 Comments Off on Parents – Please be courteous and stay clear from goals and sidelines Subscribe here

Last week we had a number of complaints from parents about other parents standing around the goals and others not giving enough space/separation between them and the field sidelines.

We are asking of all parents cooperation to please be courteous and respectful to our youth players and to please stay clear from around goals and sidelines.

Please understand that yelling and instructing from behind a goal can be very disruptive in the decision making of our youth players. Also any spectators standing close to the sidelines pose a safety hazard to all our youth players.

Again just be curious and mindful while watching a game.

Thank you,

Our first league game will be scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2019.

For those of you who have reached out to us about teams already practicing please be aware that those teams most likely belong to the CITY OF PORTERVILLE recreational soccer league. Every year the City league begins sooner than our league but then ends a few weeks sooner as well.

This year we’ve had more registrations than last year and because of it, we ask that you please bear with us as we continue to find coaches and form teams.

In our endeavor to bring back a soccer program to Porterville College, we have been speaking on and off with Joseph Casio, PC’s Athletics Director and it seems they want to see how much interest there is in the community so they have agreed to offer a soccer course this fall semester. Please show support and spread the word.

We need good enrollment to show that we are interested in soccer and that Jamison stadium field can be used for practices. The class is Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:15pm at Jamison Stadium.

The catalog info is below.

Rebranding of our logo to include our parent organization

After many discussions and many debates, our board felt it was very important that our recreational soccer league logo represented who we truly are and the organization that allows us to offer a recreational league to the youth of Porterville and the surrounding communities. The inclusion of the South Valley Chivas logo into the Porterville Soccer League logo was very important for us because in our logo we wanted to represent the relationship and pipeline which exists between both organizations. In creating the Porterville Soccer League many years ago, it was the our intent that it serve as a feeder program into the South Valley Chivas and for many years now it has truly serviced its purpose. For many years now, players who have excelled in the Porterville Soccer League have continued on to represent the South Valley Chivas all around the state and in some cases they have represented us around the world.

Rest assured that for many more years to come both organizations will continue to function and offer the same services and we hope that our players from the Porterville Soccer Leauge continue to eventually end up representing our South Valley Chivas competitive club.

Craig Wheaton candidate for Tulare County Superintendent of Schools visits our league

On Saturday October 13, 2018 our league was fortunate enough to have the presence of Craig Wheaton candidate for Tulare County Superintendent of Schools. Some of our players families were able to talk to Mr. Wheaton and ask questions about his platform and his view on educational issues which we are currently facing in our educational system.

Mr. Wheaton has a proven record and experience as a counselor, teacher, coach, superintendent of Visalia Unified School and currently holds the position of Tulare County Deputy School Superintendent right under Jim Vidak current Tulare County Superintendent Of School, position Mr. Wheaton is currently running for.

If you were unable to talk to Mr. Wheaton during his visit this Saturday we ask that you visit his website at WheatonForSuperintendent.com.

Our league administration is very grateful with Mr. Wheaton as he is a sponsor of our league.

We would also like to remind everyone that voting for California’s General Election will be taking place on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

Here are a couple pictures of Craig Wheaton visit to our league
